Went to work for SCE and worked at Power Plants in Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Long Beach, Alamitos, Etiwanda and Daggett CA
Raised a family, sent kids to school, paid my taxes and after 32 years hit the road leaving CA behind.
Loved the view in rear mirror

Lousy politics, ridiculous rules/regulations, heavy socialist leaning ideas and way too 'liberal' for my beliefs.
Why didn't I leave sooner?
Dang good paying job that provided for my family......plain and simple.
Pretty close to the same for me. In the Navy 84-88 in San Diego. Stayed and loved it for a lot of years. Just left in January. Stayed and left for the same reasons you mention. It is a shame it was a great state for ALL at one time. Wish San Diego could succeed and for it's own state from camp pendelton south.
