After spending $4k on injectors, a new turbo and FICM module this winter, I'd like to learn how to avoid the stations on the highway that sell that B20 ****. My 6L Powerstroke doesn't like that ****. Even the B5 isn't that great but seems everywhere I've stopped to fuel up has that at a minimum.

Almost impossible to avoid it. Thank your government for that. I have a Titan tank that helps me be a bit choosy where I buy.

I have an 05 6.0. How did poor fuel harm the FICM module? I know low batteries in the winter can harm them. If you go to the 6.0 diesel forums, most of them recommend a larger alternator to help the FICM and installing a larger gauge positive cable from the alternator to the battery. If you look at the OEM cable, it's rather pathetic.Bill

It must be a local problem. Around here (western VA) it's hard to find Biodiesel if you wan too. I've seen it a few places but it's very rare. Or, maybe they just put it everywhere and don't tell anybody.

Second, a FICM module has nothing at all to do with the type of fuel you use. Third, the turbo doesn't have anything to do with it either. Finally, We burn the bio-diesel in dozens of different engines on the farm that were manufactured over several different decades. No problem.However !! It doesn't hurt to carry a jug of additive that kills fungus and put the right amount of ounces in your tank now and then. When on the road you don't know what sort of care the different filling stations are doing to there holding tanks. A few ounces of additive can save you trouble from poorly managed filling stations.

i have driven from Calif to Indiana and backi have never seen BIO diesel anyplace i stopped

How do you avoid Bio Diesel (over B5) while on the road?

I was not aware the US govt was responsible for special interest groups that pushed it through and the farmers who are more than happy to get paid to farm the stuff. What was I thinking?

yep and safeway and most fred meyer are b-20

I wish I could find a freddy around our area that was B-20, since B-20 is exempt from Oregon road tax plus freddylow price would make diesel REAL cheap around here. Up and down I-5 I've only seen B-5 at freddys

We don't like it either, and our 2011 F250 doesn't like it! We start looking for fuel when we hit the 1/2 mark....just made the trip from TX to Oregon and had to "move on" a couple of times.

Calling BS on BD causing OP's repair bill. The last 100,000 miles on my Ram have been on B100. I know people that run B100 on 6.0 Rords with no problem.

How many miles on your '03 Ford? At 13 years maybe it just needed injectors and had nothing to do with fuel. And as others mention, the FICM is unfortunately a weak part and highly susceptible to low batteries. My '06 is on it's 3rd one, but my truck sits a lot in the winter and I sometimes forget to plug in my charger.
As for B20 I have never noticed it in my travels in the west so I may have pumped some into my truck but hasn't caused a problem.
