About 18 years ago, a young kid screamed around me on I20, Arlington, tx and pulled in almost scraping my front bumper. He saw a flag man about half mile ahead and jammed on his brakes in panic, with me about 20' behind him. My 1997 ford 3/4 ton with the small drum brakes and my holiday rambler with small drum brakes just about ensured I would hit him. I flattened all the tires on the trailer and one on the truck; what saved the day was the guy in the next lane saw what was happening and jammed on his brakes so I could move over. The kid never knew how close he was to a horrible wreck.
I went bumpity, bumpity all the way to Lubbock and finally gave up and replaced 5 new tires because of the flat places.
When Duramax came out with the 4 big disc brakes on all wheels, I bought one. When they came out with a smaller 5th wheel, disc brakes on all wheels, I bought one. I can almost stop as quick as a young dumb kid in a sports car now.
