Unfortunately the best way to avoid them is to become one of them (within reason). I'm not talking about cutting people off or slamming on brakes, just merely giving them the same lack of appreciation they give me!
And the key to changing lanes is putting the blinker on when the rear of the trailer gets over the white line. Yes it's not the proper way to signal a lane change........but if you did it the proper way youde never change lanes!!!!
My wife is scared to death until we are out of the Chicagoland area!
And as far as other cities go. Give me Atlanta anytime, I've been through there on Friday afternoon at rush our. I can do that with my eyes closed!!!!
