I use my Weather Channel app to check weather ahead of us on our planned route by entering planned stops along that route. If we find ourselves looking at the leading edge of a very ominous looking line of clouds, I check the radar on the weather channel. If high winds or hail, etc is forecast, we pull over as soon as we can find a parking lot or rest area, etc. and park facing the wind and put down our stabilizers. Then we enjoy the "show".
