How do you hang your bath towels?

So how do you handle your wet towels after a shower?
We have a corner angled shower and sink vanity in the bedroom area with a small separate toilet room.

In the past we have hung our towels on hooks which are on the inside of the toilet room door. I don't like that they intrude on the space inside the small room, especially when doing the potty thing. We just repainted the door and I'm hesitating to put the hooks back up.

Our shower door has two towel bars on the outside of the door but they are small (hand towel size) and the towels don't dry well when folded wet and put on them.

Has anyone come up with a better solution or am I going to be putting the hooks back?

We bought a rubber tube type cloth line from CW that attaches to the shower walls with two large suction cups.

I was skeptical if the cups would hold on the wall but they do, even with three full size towels on it. I attach it in the shower after we are finished showering and hang the towels in the shower until dry.

It works well with wet swim suits too.
  • I used an over the door towel holder at my last house and loved it. It just doesn't seem to fit and work well on that door
I can't believe you came up with that idea as I said the same thing to my husband. He said I should just install the door stopper on the wall near the floor where the aluminum trim of the shower door would stop the glass door from hitting the hooks. I'm thinking that may be the better solution.

  • We hang ours outside. If we are having rain we hang them over the closet rod that we hung high over the shower-tub. Would not work if you are very tall.
When we started out I bought the very thickest towels that I bought at half price at a discount mall. They took up to much room in the linen closet so I changed to some that were not quite as thick. They take up less room in the linen closet and dry quicker. Dry just as well.
  • Instead of installing the tiny little towel holder that came with the TT, I bought two new ones and mounted them over each other in the bathroom.
  • We bought a towel rack that has two hook things that go over the shower and the towel rack hangs from that. I hang both of our towels from that.
  • We use an over the shower door hook similar to this and it has worked well for six years.
  • I put up a couple of 3M command strip hooks on either side of the shower and then hung a collapsible clothes bar (the kind you sometimes see in autos) between the hooks. we hang the wet towels there.
  • We hang them outside to dry. If it is raining, we have hooks in bathroom and they seem to dry well. We also have the vent open "all" the time.

If we are going to be away for a while I sometimes hang them on the back of the bar stools.
