No accounting for uninformed or care-less. Neighbor pulled in next to us a few months a ago. Hauling a 38'-39' Cedar Creek with a SWR gas F250 and his compartments were loaded with all manner of very heavy "stuff". Guessing someone told him, SURE this truck will pull that! They forgot to mention the STOPPING portion. I could have pulled his rig with a golf cart on flat ground. Could I have stopped it?
Well, he was extolling his adventure over the 4K' hills in N.C down to where he ended @2.1K where we were. He almost humorously noted to someone else that his "brakes were smoking almost all the way down". He seemed almost proud of it. Sigh.
