GasBuddy is a smart phone app and a website. Learn to use it NOW. You can have the your navigator search ahead for fuel prices and particularly look at state borders. Like don't but fuel in Michigan, Illinois, or Florida (that's all I can remember). If we are careful, we can save the cost of a 1/4 tank by buying fuel early.

I made that mistake once, fueled up in Florida, then crossed into Georgia. felt like dumping my Florida gas on the ground and run the rv on GA gas. :)
