I always plug my adapter into the 50Amp outlet, if available, and the 30Amp cord into the adapter.
Usually the 30Amp outlets are all corroded from the arcing that occurs when the rig is plugged in with the breaker on.
There have been too many times when I have plugged a brand new plug into a 30Amp outlet and because of the corrosion in the outlet, the new plug would have to be replaced.
50Amp outlets are usually in perfect condition.
