We have owned our rig since 1998 and been to 49 states, it is self contained and I seldom hook up the fresh water or the sewer hose. I use my onboard system for water and refill when needed. I dump as needed also. The only time I really wished I had more of anything was for the cable TV hookup. DW loves Survivor and The Amazing Race, so those nights we must have a signal and often there isn't any OTA signal.
I have a 25' power cord, water hose and TV cable, if I can't make it with that, I don't hook up. I have 20' of sewer hose because I need it at home to dump there. Basement storage is at a premium in our rig.
