I've been trying to pay off my trailer from RVW and get the title now since around March 12. I have called, left voicemail messages, emailed etc. probably 30-40 instances of TRYING to get someone to (1) take the payment for the trailer via credit card (which cleared my CC company April 23 -- over a MONTH later) and (2) TRYING to get the title sent to me. I can talk to NO ONE about what the hold-up is. But I sure don't think it should take SIX WEEKS to get a title. Mike Durnell doesn't have voice mail, but I have emailed him, called him -- and left NUMEROUS messages with my home phone, cell, and work numbers. No response. FINALLY I got an email May 10 from Candy Durnell about the correct VIN number for the trailer. I emailed her right back, thinking 'ok NOW I'll get the title'. I gave it until May 17 to get the title, then called. I was on hold nearly NINE minutes, then cut off. I called back and was told 'Candy's not in' so I left her a VM asking her to call me with my cell phone number. No call, nothing. I called her AGAIN 3 times the following week, and emailed her once about the title. No answer to anything. On Monday May 20 I talked to her and she admitted she 'forgot all about my title'. A few days later (would have to look up my records to see exact date) I got another email from her asking for my correct home address. I emailed right back with my address. No further correspondence. "Great" I thought "the title's coming now". I called May 30 when I STILL didn't have my title and left her a VM with all my phone numbers. No call back. I have called her twice more up to today, left a VM asking her to call with all my numbers AGAIN -- no answer. Maybe they're afraid I'll dispute the payment with the CC and want to wait the 90 days until it's too late? I'd just like ANYONE to call me and talk to me or email me!! And this title was with Mike Durnell/RVW -- not a bank.

Not all of us know what RVW is, what or where it is?If this is a dealership in your town you should be going down there in person and not leaving until you have your title.

Wondering why you didn't write a check. Seems like it would have gone through faster.

Titles are a legal requirement and perhaps it's time to quit dealing with non-responsive people and go to your local county auditor/title bureau.

I'll guess you're not dealing with a reputable finance company.Have your attorney write a letter stating the date you'd like the title in hand. -Tom

They probably sold your note and are now just the middleman in the transaction. Might not even know where your title is. Contact your state DMV and the Better Business Bureau.

OH FRABJOUS DAY!! I have a title. Or facsimile thereof. I got a blue MCO instead with a note saying this should suffice to get me a title in TeXas. Hope they're right. I can deal with that next week. At least I have SOMETHING certified!!

Nope. The insurance decided NOT to cover the damage as they deemed it 'failure to maintain'. So I paid it off myself. No hanky- panky going on. No salvage title either.

Thanks to all those that answered my questions about is 6 weeks too long. Which it may or may not be.

RVW is a B-I-G RV business in Ohio. Mike Durnell is a co-owner, along with his brother. I was paying him directly and yes, I do have the "papertrail" and saved correspondence to prove I was indeed paying for THIS trailer with THIS VIN number. I don't know what Mike/RVW is doing on his end with the money, taxes, or how he's keeping it on his books. His accountant (which probably is a wife, sister, or cousin) is none of my concern. So far I've encountered four 'Durnells" that work at RVW; there may be more.

I was mainly concerned with the length of time this is taking to be completed. However, yesterday afternoon late I did hear from 'Kim Durnell" that due to the fact that I had "never talked to Candy to give her my address" (have copies of emails I sent and NO ONE ever called me to ask) they had to look up copies of my checks to get my address off of them. When I asked why they didn't just call me, Kim stated that no one had my number. When in fact Mike called me once back at the beginning of April and I left numerous messages and VM for Candy with 2-3 of my numbers every.single.time. I called. Sigh.

Anyway, I was ASSURED that I would have the title by the first of next week. So now I'm sitting with fingers crossed.

Interesting the bank is listed as the lienholder for the insurance??? And you got insurance on a unregistered trailer???

This has to be one screwed up deal and may never get resolved without one really big loser…

Skip the lawyer, if the bank didn't approve the loan there isn't much you can do. The dealer will have to take back the rig. Be aware, there may be a clause that makes you responsible for...

I guess this would explain above post.

About a week after getting home, get a call from Bank to verify my address & phone number. Inquire about direct payments for loan from my checking account (my preferred way to pay) & gal says it will all be in the welcome package with my payment booklet. OK.

Without all the facts or just one side of the story this is difficult. I guess concern one is who holds the actual note if there is one? Assuming this was financed 2+ years who was the 1099 from or did you not write this off on your taxes. Did you actually receive a written payoff letter or was it verbal. If the later how do you know the note is actually satisfied. Definitely more questions than answers in this transaction.

True, but even in those rare instances, the vehicle will be titled to the individual and the dealership (or another entity the dealer owns) will be shown as the lienholder. You wouldn't make the check out to the dealer himself, in the dealer's name. The dealer's accountant would scream bloodly murder if the checks were coming in under the dealer's personal name. It would be a nightmare sorting out personal and business dealings and a grand invitation to an IRS audit.

Another red flag is this quote from happybooker from the previous thread. she bought the TT 10-9-09 and as 2-20-10 no plates
I HAVE been using it -- it's insured so no problem there. It just doesn't have current license plates -- still got the dealer plates on it.

IF a cop ever stops me for the 'expired' license plates -- well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it I guess. I'm camping in it this weekend!
