For the engine on the 4000 MicroQuiet, I also think 2000 is a lot of hours, even with good maintenance, for a splash lubricated four-stroke with no oil filtration. Similar engines in pump and commercial mower applications go 500 to 2000 hours, but a well cared for engine might go a lot more than 5000.
The generator engine is not built the same as a consumer mower engine, with 50 to 200 hour life expectancy. The generator engine uses better materials, but life still depends on keeping up with oil changes and air filter changes.
