How many pull a toad behind their fifth wheel

The tracker is about 2500# so I suppose it is possible to do it. You'll need to rig it with tow lights too. When you come to long uphill sections it may be best to drop it and let the DW drive it up. Were it me, I'd have the DW drive it and stay about 1/4 mile behind (I hate seeing the wives sitting on the husband's rear bumper). If the tracker has a problem (flat tire, etc.) you'll never know it until it's too late. If you insist on towing it, put wheel sensors on it and make sure the signal reaches your tow vehicle.

I can't speak to the law in other states, but that list is VERY INACCURATE for the State Of Montana! If it is WRONG about Montana (where everything you need to know is in Section 61 of Montana Code Annotated), how can it be trusted for other states?

I would check for yourself on the legality of what you are suggesting, and not take the word from a site that is notoriously against tandem towing.

I have towed tandem for over 10 years, and it isn't that big of a deal if you are set up properly.

It's not legal in Oregon, either. We wanted our car one year, so I drove it down following DH. It's BORING......but worth it :)

It would be legal in Montana
It would NOT be legal in Idaho and maybe Utah(?) as both require the 2nd "tow" to be an ATV/PWC/Boat/etc, not a car.

X3, Don't know what FW you have but would seriously question FW frame strength to support an additional 3k# towing.

Hi,

I guess if you already have a commercial drivers license, and the required current medical certificate, then you should be good to go!

Of course you will need a good hitch on the back of the fifth wheel, and brakes on the car as well.

How heavy is the fifth wheel in relation to the Tracker? You would really want the fifth wheel to be at least 2,500 - 4,000 pounds more than the Tracker weight. This will prevent the Tracker from pushing around the back of the trailer, especially important when going down hills that have curves in them.

Sharp turns that can swing the trailer rear bumper side to side can also cause problems with the front axle of the Tracker.
