How much do you pay to insure your trailer?

Our insurance co (Amica) has bumped up its premiums this year. I have no idea what is a fair price and of course it will value a lot by location, but what do you insure, what is it worth, and what is your premium?

My travel trailer is worth around $30k, and the premium is about $500.

It seems high because it doesn’t have a motor and doesn’t have a separate liability policy. Any liability attaches to our primary home, auto, and umbrella policies.

Not looking to squeeze any pennies here, but want to make sure I’m paying a fair price.
  • You can get 4-6 quotes in about 10 minutes online and they will let you know if your policy is expensive or about right.

I did that with GEICO here recently and we changed over to them. It saved me about $800/year on two vehicles and our RV. We left our home-owners where it was since it was cheaper. All of the policies were with the same deductible, same over-all coverage.
  • not only location but credit scores play into it, no way to ask one of us for a comparable value.
  • OP at $500 for one year??? If so do they provide lube with that policy???

I have my RV as part of my truck with Farmers. I have 100K coverage on the RV and pay $267 for 6mo.
  • My TT is covered for $23K (actual cash value) on my Allstate auto policy with a $500 collision and $100 comp. ded. for only $127 for 6 mo.
