- linnemjExplorerJust opened our new bill from Amerprise Insurance through Costco. Liability coverage is under the tow vehicle. For a collision and comprehensive policy it jumped from about $425 a year to over $900. That is with no claims! When I called I was told they were adjusting their policies in TN.
Time to shop around! What amazes me is now this company will lose 3 autos, a homeowner policy and our $1 million liability umbrella for this increase on the thing with the lowest risk exposure. - wannavolunteerFExplorerI have GEICO for about $350 a year (before discounts), comprehensive, collision with $500 deductible, medical payments and personal property replacement. since it is covered with truck and another car.. I get multicar and rv plus car discounts, along with the other discounts for good driver and having safety equipment in vehicles. Also since it is on policy with truck, uninsured motorist will cover whenever I am towing. Discounts take my total bill from $3200 to $2400 a year... oh yeah, I have an under 25 year old male as primary driver of one vehicle,
- BubbaChrisExplorerAs someone who moved between states a few years ago, I learned how insurance is a very state-specific product. I had no reason to think much about it before, but the change opened my eyes.
So in a forum like this, your results may vary widely unless you're getting input from folks who live in your home state.
That said, my AAA agent sold me a Progressive policy for our TT. I shopped it against Good Sam at the time and Progressive's price was better and so was the coverage. - mjmaddoxExplorerAnybody have insurance on a trailer towed with a vehicle they don't own? I travel with a friend. I own the trailer and he owns the truck.. I have progressive which I'm happy with (claim for new roof after only 5 months) however my premium is over 500, covering pretty much everything with replacement coverage. Claim process was quick and painless.
Supposedly I'm paying a higher premium because I don't own the tow vehicle with fewer companies willing to write the coverage. Does this seem reasonable? Luckily I paid the full year up front so its not up for renewal until May but with the claim on my record now, who knows what will happen to my premium? It already seems so much higher than what you guys are paying. Anybody have experience with renewal premiums escalating after a large claim? - itguy08Explorer

We have ours through State Farm along with all of our other stuff. It is around $450 a year which seems a little high to me. I got a cheaper quote through Blue Sky RV but I don't know much about them.
State Farm VERY high. I got quote from them and Good Sam and then went for Geico. You are paying more than double what you should be!
Yeah - we are in the same boat with State Farm. When it's up in May we'll probably shop. We joined a new Credit Union and they have an insurance division (home/car/etc) and I think I'll check there 1st. - Community AlumniThe best thing you can do is get with an independent agent and let them do the shopping for you. Often times they can get you a pretty good deal with carriers that you never even thought of. They're there to work for you since they aren't tied to any particular carrier. Everyone's situation and geographic location is going to be different, which can affect rates wildly. So you're going to get a lot of:
Person A: Company X is great. They were the lowest price and had the best coverage.
Person B: Company X rates were twice as much as everyone else when I checked and that was with a $2000 deductible. - IndyCampExplorerUSAA doesn't cover RV's, so we have Progressive.
We pay about $500/year for total coverage and total new replacement, with roadside assistance.
Vanishing deductible. We started out at $1,000 deductible, then went to $750, $500, and now $250. If we have no claims within the next year, we will be at $0 deductible and maintain the full coverage. - 4X4DodgerExplorer II

Check out Good Sam's policy - good coverage; reasonable price; good service. We have been very pleased with what Good Sam offers - have their extended warranty plan as well and would not be without it.
Just so everyone is clear: Good Sam is simply a BROKER selling insurance from several different companies. It is not one entity. Nor do they use one insurance company exclusively. The policies do differ. As do the costs. - fallsriderExplorerWe use N.C. Farm Bureau for our home/auto coverage. We added the TT with them for $70/year. It includes basic coverage for things that might happen to it while detached from the TV. The TV's insurance covers it while it is connected, as I understand it.
- bobndotExplorer IILiberty Mutual, covers my home and auto. Adding my TC to my policy was more than my TT . My 2016 TT is $9/mo. fire/theft/collision @ full replacement value @ $30k. I found G/Sam ins. to be more expensive for the same coverage.
