We're leaving on our at least annual, and usually two or three times a year for four months at a time. If it doesn't fit in my 8'8" Lance Cab-over truck camper, or in the storage area behind my X-cab seat, it stays home.
We've done this kind of camping for better than ten years, and before that a tent and Van. IF it didn't fit in the van, it stayed home.
I can never imagine why some folks need so much stuff to get away and relax for a weekend, or months at a time. We need the same stuff, a weekend or four months. But we do get laughs occasionally watching the same things OP mentions here ...
