Hrmm, now I speak for the other side of that story. I don't think my wife and I pack too much for our family of 4.
We have 2 boys, 8 and 6. So we always pack their bikes. Boys need bikes, part of being at a campsite is it is a safe place to explore new ground and still be in sight. At home they don't leave the cul-de-sac, but at the site we let them have a 3 site in either direction range.
We bring a single outdoor game box, usually ladder ball. We bring 3 fishing poles for 4 people. We fish with leftover meat. We carry a tackle box the size of a small purse.
We have a 21ft trailer, we have no slide out and no couch. We eat at the picnic table. We cook over the fire on a grate and currently don't even have a gas grill. Though it makes rain nights hard. We do have a camp oven, but we use it on a fire too.
We pack a computer to watch movies, no tv in the camper. We have board games and yatzee on board at all times.
The one thing we have trouble with is clothes and bedding, we have to pack those fresh each time. The smoke smell gets too bad.
We have a lantern and some bug spray. We pack 4 folding chairs.
I think our biggest splurge is the bikes, but we NEVER rent a golf cart or anything like that.
I am curious to know peoples opinions of us :)
