When someone else retires has nothing to do with when you retire. That question is as individual as any can get. For instance I am 60, but I won't be retiring until I am 70. Why, not because I don't have the money, it's because I wish to maximize. Because for instance, I have a teenager that still has probably 6 or more years of schooling yet. My wife is also a whole lot younger then me, so if I wait until 70 to retire, she collects the maximum amount of social security allowed for a whole lot of years after I die. etc., etc., etc. Only you can answer that question for you. What someone else does doesn't matter. Maybe you should talk to a professional, the cost vs. the benefit may be well worth it. Certainly better then asking on a internet forum.
