how real do your electric 'fireplace' flames look?

I haven't really seen one of these in person. I had assumed that the 'flames' on the electric fireplace units look hokey and unrealistic. But some folks on another recent thread commented that they really like their 'fireplaces' and use them often in their RVs as well as some even taking them into their homes. So if you have one of these, just how realistic do your 'flames' appear? And what brand/model do you have?

I didn't want to hijack the other thread, so I started a new one. Thanks for your input; I could see having one of these, if it doesn't look too fake.
  • In the past we had a real fireplace at home, we now have a gas one so I know what a real flame looks like. I have seen some electric one that I had to look at closely just to make sure they were fake, they looked that good.
  • I've seen several in action, both for RV's and for homes. It is like anything else, you gets what you pays for. Some look very realistic while some are just colored lights shining on fan blown crepe paper which looks goofy. Check several out if you decide you want one.
  • if i want a fire i make one outside my 2 cents.
plus with my luck if it breaks it will be discontinued
