I always figured that a motorhome started out as a truck with a house on its back so... if the truck can get there, the house will follow. The downside to this philosophy is I performed a lot of maintenance I account to the rough roads, like every screw coming loose in the coach. This has worked out pretty well over the years for us except the time I didn't check the road in advance and buried our 36' DP in sand not so far from Moab, Utah. It took 4 Jeeps to retrieve Gozer I, and is the only time we've been stuck in the back country. Lesson learned!
We'll drive a long way on bad roads (100 miles or more) if the destination calls us loudly enough. Good thing we're never in a hurry anymore! Heading way off the beaten path requires knowing your own as well as your vehicles, capabilities and limitations.
