A good mix of answers. I have a limited slip rear end on the truck and it has pulled through every place I have asked it to...but I am much more conservative now...I hate digging out more than I love the view around the next corner ;)
The only time I broke a RV trailer axle part was crossing LA. I broke the welds on a spring hanger bracket. I drove the ALCAN in the 70's in a van. Blew out 4 new tires the first 200 mi past Dawson Creek. Used 4 studded retreads for the rest of the Alcan and back to CO.
People have asked me how rough the AlCan Hwy is. I tell them that if they've driven on the concrete roads around LA in Calif and can take the beating, the AlCan is better.
