I also keep my entire unit with lid in a storage with no ill effects.
While the interior of my bag is not greasy, the idea is for the bag to contain the grease vs. having grease everywhere.
So if my bag were to be a bit sticky, who cares that is the whole point of the bag!
If you heat scrape aclean with water keep the unit clean is not a big deal. - WalabyExplorer III've been keeping mine in the carry bag for several years now with no negative effect. yes, I have the slight tacky residue but it hasn't transferred over to the carry bag.

Mike - fj12ryderExplorer IIIMe too, that's why I store the griddle separate from the rest of the parts.
- tarnoldExplorerOP again. No, I’m not talking about “gobs of grease”,just that tacky residue when you lightly apply when time to store. I currently keep it in a large black plastic garbage bag. I’m afraid that if I put it uncovered in the blackstone carry bag, it wouldn’t take long for the inside to get nasty as well.

Your griddle top should not stay greasy. Clean it after every use then wipe a light coat of canola oil all over it again before it cools all the way down.
If you are talking about puddles of congealed grease, agreed. You should always scape off the excess.
But assuming you didn't cook something with a lot of water that could strip the oils or strong spices that will taint the next meal...just scrape clean, a little water on the hot griddle if there is stuck on food and make sure it's dry. A thin sheen of bacon grease works just fine to protect it for a few days between uses. - Tal_ILExplorerI had the 17" model and just cleaned and wiped the griddle, packed it in its carrying case and put it in a storage bay.
I now have a 22" with the hood. I just clean and wipe the griddle, close the hood and set it in the storage bay next to the Green Mountain pellet smoker and gas grill. - WalabyExplorer III clean my after each use. And especially before I pack up to move on.
Not that hard. Why would you want to pack a dirty/greasy top?
Mike - BSWS19ExplorerThis might be a little weird but it works for me. I have a plastic bin with lid, big enough for the 22" Blackstone. After cleaning the griddle I cover, just the cast iron, with one of my old $9 WalMart 2XL sweatshirts. I put that in the bin first and put the lighter base on top of it. Neither sit flat in the bin, they go in at an angle then the lid goes on.

Grape seed oil for the high temperature resistance - ken56ExplorerYoutube has many videos on how to care for your griddle and how to clean and maintain it. I have the 22" and it has the metal hood attached so I put it in the back of my truck stacked on the folded stand and it rides fine. I use it at home so when we get back it gets set up again ready to use.
