Logic, if the wrench slipps and hits the chassis while working on the POSITIVE cable with the NEGATIVE connected. you can get some serious burns, blow up the battery and melt the wrench.
But if it slipps when working on the negative and hits the chassis (or other metal part connected to the chassis) nothing bad happens since the negative is connected to the chassis already.
Then once the negative is disconnected if you slip while working on the POSITIVE, nothing bad happens because the negative is not connected.
And I've been burned (not by that but by a short on 12 volts) Which is why I now wear a watch with a PLASTIC band.
