Portable units come in two flavors, Vented and non vented. If it vents to the outside using TWO tubes it will work well but is rather expensive for the amount of cooling you get.
If it's not vented it works to cool a small space in front of it at the cost of heating the rest of the room, Way more than it cools.
In sort, bad idea.
I'm thinking this summer is a good time for that vacation to the north end of the Yukon you have always been wanting to take.
