How to figure out selling price for trailer?

So, we're looking to upgrade soon to a 5er, but we have our current trailer, which is a TT toyhauler that we need to do something with. We owe about 25k on it.

We've found the 5er we want and have talked to 2 separate dealers in 2 states about it. One offered us 20k as a trade for our TT, and the other offered us 14k (but a better price on the 5er). Either way, once it all worked out, the pricing was similar for each dealer, with the local one edging out the WY one slightly.

So, based on that, we would like to try and sell it ourselves for a little bit before biting the bullet and trading it in. But how to figure out pricing, especially since the trade values the dealers gave us vary wildly?

With our options, according to NADA, the trade in is around 23k. Low Retail is around 32k (which is what we paid for it), and high retail is around 39k (ha ha). I went on RV trader and there's only 3 models like ours total in the entire country for sale on there. One is at 18k, one is at 21k, and the other is close to 30k and has some custom upgrades. The 18k and the 21k look pretty similar to ours, but ours is less "used" as we've only actually taken it out a handful of times, and have only hauled a toy in it once, to bring it home from the dealer. We also have a built-in Onan 4k in ours, the listed cheaper ones don't, the 30k one does.

They don't make our trailer as a Raptor anymore, it's now rebranded as a Carbon 27. New, those appear to be running anywhere from 28-38k.

We were thinking of just asking what we owe and seeing if anybody offered anything. What would RV.net users ask for this trailer, on the private market?

The real market dictates the selling price and dealers only offer what they see at auctions. (There's a large private network with this information that only dealers have access to.)

All you can do is pick what you feel is a fair starting price based on NADA. If you dont get any real offers or even showings in 1-2 months, you're either too high or its the wrong time of year. And this is not a good time of year, everyone is looking for low ball pricing right now.

Sometimes, you have to take a hit to get what you want. IF what you want is that important to you.

Yeah, we know we'll take a hit, but wanted to at least try to soften the blow a little bit :) It's worse than it looks on paper, we refinanced the camper earlier this year and had to pay 4k back then to even get a loan because the finance company didn't think it was worth what we originally owed on it.

We aren't in a big hurry, mainly just want the new 5er before next summer if we can.

Sounds like you did your market research, I'd start at 30k and go down from there. Rv pricing is sort of an art...

Wouldn't you stand to get more for it if you sold in spring just before amature camping season starts?

Perhaps, we may wait until then, especially since it's at the shop getting winterized right now, and I know any savvy buyer would want it dewinterized to test it out.

The big RV show here is in January or February, so it'd probably be good to wait til after that at least.
