All of the previous answers are very valid and I had the experience of trying them ALL while chasing stink in my old camper to no avail.
THEN
I dry camped for a year. Remote area so I pulled my camper toilet, covered the hole and just used one of those portable camp toilets.
I stored my campers toilet in my garage (to start). IT STUNK TO HIGH HEAVEN! Even when left outside, it stunk to high heaven! It had be cleaned and cleaned again BUT I believe the plastic was old and had become porous.
I had tried car wax to coat the inside of the toilet and everything to clean it. Nothing helped.
Sometime you just need to replace the toilet bowl.
