stink bugs

Can anyone tell me the best way to get rid of stink bugs in my motorhome. Thank you for any help Kenny
  • There being something over 200 species of stink bugs in North America, I assume you are referring to those invasive Asian stinkbugs that have taken much of the East Coast by storm in the last few years. Having lived with them here in Virginia for many years now, I can tell you that there is no legal pesticide that you can use that will eliminate them. The most powerful ones available at best stun the little buggers for a few hours.

The only way we've found to deal with them is to vacuum them up whenever/wherever you see one, seal up the vacuum bag when it gets full, and let 'em starve to death in the meantime. If you've been in one of the eastern states they've invaded and picked up an infestation, you are going to be vacuuming them for a while before you can get rid of them.

Do note that they do not bite people. They feed on plants, and one help would be to eliminate all plants from your rig. Or maybe leave just one tomato or pepper plant to serve as sacrificial bait.
  • Yup, you will be a rich man if you figure that out. I get them in my hose and have no idea where they get in. I will say that maybe a 2x a year pestiside spraying may help. I use ortho home defense to help with the bugs in the camper, i do the inside and outside twice a year.
  • We have started getting a twice a year pest control service for the house. So far it seems to be working about 95%. We get the tech to spray around the RV while he is there.

I call them chinese stink bugs because that is where they came from originally.

    OK, so I'm not PC!
  • They have killed all the lady bugs. I wish I had the lady bugs back. I never thought lady bugs were a blessing before stink bugs.

Maybe not, but you are right. ;)

Try calling them Sino-stink bugs. ;)
  • They're not isolated to the East coast. We were overrun by them when we were visiting Glacier National Park. Brought a few stowaways home to Idaho and squashed them right away.
  • We've had pretty good luck with bug bombs if there are lots. It doesn't kill them but it does seem to drive them out. Do it on a warm day and you see tons around the driveway.

Then before they move back in, move the RV.
