Stink Bugs

They show up here in force in early September. We could spray them but they really seem to be little more than an annoyance, a month later they are gone although I had one drop into my hair last week.

We had that happen too, also years ago. Advice? Don't squash them !! Open window to chase them out then close it again until others get near.

It took us almost a year too. Kept finding dead ones here and there.

I remember as a child growing up on Vancouver Island the occasional one, but not the numbers we had in eastern US that year

They were really heavy a few years ago here in Northern Neck Virginia... They are still here but not so bad the past couple of year...

I have a fifth wheel parked back near the woods here and they had got into the overhead A/C ducts... Had a heck of a time with them haha...

That one year they was so bad the local news guys were showing how to cook them and then eat them haha... They fry up pretty good i guess...

We also have a season of Lady bugs here around the same time in the fall of the year...

Oh, they are still here. I killed 3 this weekend.

I killed one in my bedroom tonight, but we haven't had the cold weather we normally get in December and January. We've only had about 2" of snow so far and we average 55 inches.

We put them in a jar, glass, bottle of water with a little bit of dish detergent in there, otherwise they just climb out of the jar.

And if you make it through the hoards of stink bugs and head to Florida, then you have the love bugs that totally cover your rv.

Thank everyone for your input. Is it fair to say that the severity from year to year is highly variable, but September seems to be the worst time?

As cold weather approaches, they are looking for a winter home. They are out there year round but are not much of a bother till they want indoors. Yes, the population does vary quite a bit, my guess is its worse when they first invade a new area and their natural predators haven't increased in number. Here in PA, the number went from unbelievable to just a few over the last five years.

We camped in northern N.Carolina in 2015 (fall) with our fw and got them. Did the treatments, sprays and such and we stopped finding any. We decided to change to a MH a few months ago and we bought from private seller. All clothes were washed before transfer and everything else was closely checked just to be sure we didn't move any to the new (to us) coach. We closely check the fw for any before we sold it. All good, then we have found 4 or 5 in the new coach in the last month or so. Don't know if we moved them, or they were with the new coach.
