I bought my blue-ox (top of the line, aluminum) tow bar & the jeep base plates for 250 bucks off of craigslist - theres no need to buy new, unless you absolutely feel the need.
I installed the baseplates in a few hours by myself, no big deal.
you can make these installs as cheap and/or complicated as you want (i used the magnetic tail lights for a while too....what a P.I.A.)....the JK's have an integrated wiring harness that uses the factory taillight bulbs (no extra bulbs, diodes or wire to string from front to rear on the wrangler....its a nice CLEAN set up & i love it....makes hooking up & dropping the jeep VERY VERY quick (less than 60 seconds) and the installation is SUPER clean.
