I know this is just fanning the flames, but nonetheless...
IMO it's a specious argument to say that supplemental braking is not (a) required by law, or (b) necessary due to the tow vehicle to toad weight distribution. I say this because I want the best braking my combo can have.
If for example your tow vehicle can stop alone in 150 feet from a given speed, do you want the combination to stop in 165 feet if there's an obstacle 160 feet ahead?
That's just my opinion, and I know people prioritize spending on safety related items all the time. But if you can afford the TV and the toad...
And then there's the breakaway potential.
Your money, your choices. I'm not spending all my time on the road wondering if the toad coming at me is braked or not. :C
