Humidity / Moisture Absorbers; Do They Work?

I have read thru several of the 'condensation' threads, and like with many things, there seems to be some disagreement as to whether absorption/desiccant type "dehumidifiers" work.

I do know about cracking a window and/or vent, and using fans to circulate air. But I do not want to use anything requiring even more power usage, so I am considering purchasing one, or more, of the following:

Any real world experience you can share regarding these (or similar) products would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • In reality NO they remove such a small amount IMHO they are ineffective. I use a small portable electric dehumidifier which can draw two gallons of moisture from the air in a 12 hour period. We put the unit in our shower and set it for whatever we like. We actually dry all our towels and wet cloth's in the process. No humidity in our hybrid. Problem solved. Best of luck
  • I have used DampRid in my home closet. It absorbs water like crazy. One time I forgot to check on it and its absorbed water had overflowed the container and made a mess. So recommend only for folks willing to pay attention to it.
