There are a few inaccuracies here.
Heating does not remove humidity...
Heating then cooling not only had a dramatic improvement (drop) in the humidity comfort level, it was a MEASURED drop, using an electronic temp/humidity device.
So I'm pretty certain the heat/cool process actually DOES remove humidity.
If we were in an environment that constantly caused this uncomfortable scenario, perhaps we'd invest in a dehumidifier. But in 9 days, we had two days we had to do this.
Running the heat a bit instead of the A/C seems like a fairly even exchange, especially when the end result allows the A/C to cycle on and off instead of running constantly on max with little to no improvement and being MUCH more comfortable.
While you are entitled to your opinion about what you may consider a "waste" of energy (as opposed to using the A/C only :h), the end result is it actually DOES remove humidity. This was measured, not simply opinion.
Guess it boils down to this. First, does it actually work, and second, would I do it again. Yes and yes. If someone else finds themselves in a situation where this info could benefit them, I've explained what worked for us.
It's up to each person to decide if and when they want to try it, run their A/C, or even go out and dance in the rain! :)
