I use a check off list and check items off when completed, then I do a last walk around prior to leaving mainly to see if I have left anything behind and to pick up any trash etc...
This is pretty much what I do EXCEPT the DW holds the ignition key while I do these things and SHE holds and reads the list. I have screwed up due to being lazy, not able to read and dyslexic. The DW isn't any of those and is not above asking me to double check.
For a new bride she is pretty cool and God willing, next year will be celebrating our 55th anniversary. Not bad for newly weds, EAH? - D_E_BishopExplorer

- Homer1ExplorerYep I found the walk around particularly effective. My wife who is a perfectionist always readied the toad. She never in all our years of traveling made one error in getting the toad ready to roll. I have failed once to see that a jack did not retract before I pulled forward. Fortunately if was sandy soil and there was no damage, just a minor furrow which I filled back in.

I found the best way I have saw to make sure I leave nothing of my Motor Home dangling that would break off or tear up my RV when I leave a camp area.
These are bands that wrap around the steering wheel take them off one by one when none remain safe to leave.
I have and use them. I love them. I do my walk-around and check everything, put things away, etc. Then I climb in the driver seat and one by one remove the straps. There have been a couple times that I've said "oops" and made a quick trip to close a window, lock a compartment, etc.
However, they are not error proof - if you don't put them on the steering wheel, then they don't remind you of anything. - nineoaks2004ExplorerI use a check off list and check items off when completed, then I do a last walk around prior to leaving mainly to see if I have left anything behind and to pick up any trash etc...
- K_CharlesExplorerI LOOK when I do my walk around, simple and it works.
- tpiExplorerMy little trick is a final walkaround. With three important points registered: Look up (antenna, branches etc.), look around (open compartments etc) and look under. It is simply essential that I do it, and have it burned into brain that I did it. Kind of like a very conscious confirmation I tightened the drain plug, or locked my house when I left. If I cannot come up with those memories, I'll do it again just to be sure.
- bukhrnNomadHave seen them before, they've been around for a long time, still don't know what to call them. :?
- gboppExplorerError proof?
It will definitely help but, nothing is error proof. Trust me. ;)
