Having bought a new pickup in 2014 for my daily driver and DIY truck, it was quite a search to find one optioned more than as a grocery getter! Prices were more than DOUBLE of what I paid for my last new truck. I was expecting that, but can't get used to that... Fortunately, I can take advantages of pricing and incentives not available to the general public, but having a monthly payment, even at the 0%, isn't fun! My very first new truck cost me $4,378!
I've yet to purchase any new vehicle just for the dedicated purpose of towing. In fact, my last two tow vehicles have been GMC SUVs. A 1998 C2500 with 7.4L big block, 4L80E, and 14-bolt full floater I purchased at 10 years old with only 93K miles on it. A great deal on it, great tow vehicle, but it was wrecked in front of my house by a drunk driver in 2012! Oddly, it matched the color scheme of our camper then. Replaced it with a 2004 Yukon XL 2500 SLT 2wd with the 8.1L and all the right options for towing! Bought it with only 31K miles on it in 2012! Oddly, it matches the color scheme of the new camper we bought last fall!
