about 5 years ago, the Dodge Ram I had needed some suspension work done on it that would have really blown my budget. After much calculating, I decided to buy a new truck. I had a heck of a time finding trucks that had tow packages that were suitable to comfortably tow even a 6K - 7K travel trailer. Most I found were loaded with fancy options that did nothing to improve tow capability. I just about went crazy trying to buy a truck, especially when you added in that the salesmen didn't know much about them, and almost all couldn't understand that a middle aged female knew what she needed and asked the tough questions. I had one dealer that told me I should trade a truck after 3 years, that was the best way to balance payments and value.. this was also the dealer that wouldn't even give me a price... just kept asking what I wanted my payments to be. needless to say, I didn't buy from that dealer. My truck is now 5 years old and has what I need in a truck. I will keep it, until I no longer need a truck. I see co-workers buy fancy "grocery getter" trucks and wonder "why?" I am still amazed that they sell so many trucks without even a hitch on them.
