- PawPaw_n_GramExplorerThe best one I saw on a Cougar 5th wheel in March 2012 was a real decent sized medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
- mr__edExplorerI don't think I'd want that. Another mechanism complicating the regular slide that could prove problematic . A simple standard-type slide would do it for me.
Admittedly, slides add a lot of room to an RV interior. My previous 5er, a NuWa Hitchiker had 3 of them (standard slides), but when I sold my unit back to NuWa due to a sudden disability, they paid me very little, stating they found water damage to the slide floors. I'm not sure they were being truthful. The slides never leaked as long as I owned the unit. I was always careful to inspect them during and after any heavy rain. Anyhow, I had to let my 5er go for a mere fraction of what its real worth should have been.
If my current infirmity ever gets well enough so I may RV again, I'm inclined to obtain an RV without slides. I lived quite a number of years full time in an older class A motorhome, 29' long without slides and was quite comfortable with that setup. - 2 years in ours, and never had a space issue outside . . We even dry camp at the NASCAR track (R.I.R.) twice a year with no space issues there either..
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerThe Monaco Dynasty Majestic V had this feature in a living room slide in 2010. I didn't know that they were installed in a 5th wheel until I saw this post.
The only concern would be if there is a enough room to extend it. I'm assuming that you can only put it out halfway not extending it fully if the RV space is too tight.
Otherwise, it would give you a lot of room!
Safe travels,
MM. - OkieBoomersExplorerHi all. This is my first post on this forum. We bought a South Fork Lawton last October with this double slide and love it. We started our full time adventure and are loving our unit. So far absolutely no issues with the slide. We do love the room it gives us in the bedroom
- NJRVerExplorerJust think how close your bed will be to the neighbors in some of the tighter RV parks.
- Thunder_MountaiExplorer IIWhat model number is that Big Country?
- d3500ramExplorer IIIDisclaimer: My camper does not have any slides.
...that said, I have read often of persons here who have issues with them- mechanical failures, leaks, larger volumes in colder temperatures trying to keep warm, etc. I am NOT speaking ill of RV's with slides, but doesn't this double slide concept potentially create double the problems that may happen.
How far can one cantilever out would be a primary concern I would think. The linkage and mechanics of the first slide at the carcass must have quite a bit of stress on it.
I will admit I am ignorant of RV's with slides... just looking at this concept with novice eyes. Any real world feedback from members who do the two? - RbertalottoExplorerI'm surprised most slides are not some type of telescope. Would take much less t
Room inside when not deployed - Grit_dogNavigator IIPoof! Insta house. That Big Country is beautiful!
