I know how you feel but, IMHO it didn’t go from a little bubble to trash that quick… the damage may have been hidden but was already there, and would have been exposed during the repair anyway…
How I don’t know with the care you say it got…

Maybe you should be glad it happen while the insurance is in the paying mood and they misjudged the damage… otherwise they might have taken the position it was a lack of maintenance and requiring you to prove it wasn’t…
