Lots of paranoia over a rare event. How many people actually know someone who's lost an inverter gen? Not Internet stories, not a guy your BIL heard about. An actual, verifiable case. I've painted our EU2000 flat black, using Fusion plastic paint. I've never gone out of my way to secure it, other than the paint, and putting is away whaen not running. I don't worry about it being in view, or people listening for it. I let my insurance agent worry about loosing sleep.
