I once had my black tank on my fiver plug up when I went to use a rest area dump station. A couple guys at the dump station suggested that I use the ice method to break free my blockage. I proceeded to a convenience store and bought a couple off bags of ice. Dumped the ice in the black tank and headed down the road. Went maybe 50 miles or so. Found another dump station and the tank emptied with no problems.
Since I had never heard of the ice solution, of course I was skeptical. All I can say is it worked for me and I certainly would try it again if need be.
I think this guy's trial failed because there was no water in the tank when he first placed the ice in the tank. The ice needs to be able to slosh around in order to work.
