Thanks Texan, I totally understand your post. Sorry bout the others. I thank somebody got it in for you.
Nobody has it in for him, his numbers don't match the IDT press release. When asked for clarification he got overly defensive. It's easy to see he has made an error, and so far he is unwilling to correct it. That makes it hard to believe his lowered to 6K/axle limit. 6K an axle will preclude many pickups with a trailer or RV and nearly all class A and C RV's from crossing.
Simple clarification was asked for, based on that I would say that the issue lies with the OP.
This is a good thread with needed I formation, but the information needs to be correct.
EDIT: I just spoke with IDT Port of Entry Supervisor. He had not heard of the limit being lowered, but said it was possible. He did confirm that the limit is currently 18,000lbs per axle or 9 Tons. He said it's possible they are lowering it, but seriously doubted it would be lowered to 6,000lbs per axle as it would even limit empty tractor-trailer combo's.
The Max allowed weight is currently 80,000lbs, depending on number of axles.
He did suggest using 511.idaho.gov to check prior to any trips across the bridge with a load/trailer. The limits are listed under "Truckers".
ID 55: Posted bridge.
between Railroad Avenue and Warm Lake Road (Cascade). A bridge weight limit has been posted. No vehicles over 80000 lbs. Axle weight limit 18000 lbs.
