Old Biscuit didn't explain it well at all. But several other posters did help clear up my confusion. I plan on going back to the store tomorrow armed with slightly more information and find out how they came to charge the amount they did.
I also used lb for pounds and L for liters in exactly the places I meant to. Editing not required. And where I come from, the number sign is not used to denote pounds.
