The GM Duramax/Allison is a mature combination. GM has worked most of the bugs out of their package and they work really well together. The Allison is a tremendous transmission.

If you know anyone that works for GM, you could get the truck on the Friends and Family plan. Sometimes incentives get more of a savings. We just bought a new Cruze and the Farm Bureau discount, along with the Credit Union discount came in a better deal than the F&F discount.

You would be more than happy with a new GMC Denali Diesel.
