I used to share those sentiments... but I figured everyone had their right to finance if they wanted to. I never saw myself as someone who would finance a "toy". Fast forward to the present. I have a beautiful 2 year old daughter and a son on the way. We have a 22 foot camper that just isn't big enough for a family with 2 young children, and on top of that we have a leak and a broken refrigerator.
I had to make a decision to either forfeit camping for the next couple years and not have my children get to experience camping... or borrow money to buy a camper and allow my family to continue to have vacations and experiences that we otherwise might not have.
My truck is paid, my wife's car is paid. Our only debt is a mortgage and my brides school loans.
I decided that I would rather my children get to go camping and have fun growing up... going to the lake, going to Florida, going to the beach, going to NYC, going to historic sites, etc. It is worth it to me. I wish I was in a position to pay cash, but I can't.
