I don't know who is crazy or sane. I just know everyone makes their own decisions hopefully with knowledge and forethought.
Using credit to make a major purchase can certainly work to your advantage if you think it through well; the same is true of a cash sale.
When I purchase my TT and TV it'll be a cash sale simply because there is a tax benefit for me that allows a better benefit than financing it. Might not have been true a few years back.
Deciding that an RV was a necessity never entered my mind in all the years I've enjoyed camping, with family and with out. Probably the realities of my urban surroundings since it was and is simple enough for me to jump on a commuter train and an hour or so later find myself in a new environment w/ no need for a car, breathing a different type of air.
