I agree that everyone's situation can be different - I don't try to make sense of theirs, I have enough trouble with mine.
I understand that there are lots of people who are living beyond their means. I'll be the first to admit that I lived barely within mine for about 20 years, but part of that was investing in my retirement and buy a house and the sort of debt that most people except as NOT being stupid. Now that the kids are grown, I can afford to "play" while still putting even more back towards retirement.
Yeah, my 2014 TT is on a 15 yr loan. The interest is less than what a lot spend on beer and cigarettes in a month...but for last months payment I sent them 2K. Along with the brand new TV I bought last year (also on a pretty low interest rate), both should be paid off in about 3 years WHILE I get to enjoy them.
