I'm looking at some ideas to keep the kids in my family entertained while camping. This past weekend I bought some little foam airplanes that they could fly. I also had some glow sticks.I'm shopping on amazon right now and I came across a box of those small foam WWII planes that you have to put together. I used to get them all the time from the ice cream man. lolI also have a dozen of those army men with parachutes. You throw the whole thing in the air and watch as he descends with the parachute deployed.The boys are 5,4,3 and 2. What else might be good?

head to the dollar store & let them go wild with $5 each!! LOL

Things we use - soccer balls, footballs(nerf for that age). We often have a mini game of two hand touch break out. We have a giant (2 ft across?) frisbee that has soft edge and fabric center, our 5 year old loves that. We have done the glow sticks, and they are a lot of fun! I also like the foam airplanes, may have to get some of those!We often camp where it is sandy, so any buckets and shovels are a big hit.

Miniature cars and trucks like Hot wheels or Matchbox. The $5 each at the dollar store sounds like a great idea!

When I traveled out of the country a lot, I would always hit the cheap toy aisle and load up on cheap toys to give to the street kids that never had a toy. Cheap crayons, markers, coloring books, jacks, marbles, the airplanes that you mentioned-except they were balsa wood, bubbles, play-doh, little cars, balls, frisbees, lots of cheap little toys. (I would also load up on bite sized candies. Was a hero on the plane one Christmas day in El Salvador when we were not allowed off the plane for more than 8 hours with no food or water...)edit- paddles with the ball attached, board games

Bug catching gear, bike, fishing pole and digging toys are our 4 Year old daughters camping toys. In addition, camper dedicated stuffed animals, boardgame and a puzzle.

Two sticks, some string, a piece of newspaper and a few bits of cloth and you can teach them how to make a kite. Not very fancy but they are learning as they play and you should see the eyes as THEIR kite takes off.

Paints, clay projects, sand projects, etc. All of that kind of messy stuff that is great at the picnic table. Then you have the more active stuff like Kites at the beach or playground, Nurf guns that shoot the little balls or missles, frisbee's, gloves and softball, basketball, soccer balls. For inside the camper we always keep a few games in case we get stuck inside due to rain. UNO, Trouble, Monopoly, Jenga, etc.

Depending on the kids ages,break open the glow sticks,put some on the planes wings for night time flying. Sure to bring some people out to see what is glowing in the sky.

I need to find that giant fabric frisbee! Bug catching kits are big with my 5 yr old. I also hit the clearance ailes all year. If I see something I grab it. I keep things hidden and when we *really* need something different, I bring out one of the surprise boxes.

At our local dollar store, I bought a container of dinosaurs - they were always a big hit with the boys; and a container of animals for the girls. Matchbox car were always good; and a couple of cheap dolls rounded out the assortment?
