Maybe if it actually goes into production we'll find out. I, for one, don't intend to hold my breath.

Don't forget that the air cells keeping it inflated are buoyant, as is the empty space in the cooler between the cans. I bet it would float, but be low in the water when full.

The website shows them filling the cooler with cans to show how much can go into it. I based my opinion on that. IMO if you fill it with cans of pop/beer/whatever, which doesn't seem too unlikely, it won't float.

What are you putting in it? Full of water? Float for sure. Ice will float without the cooler. A can of beer or pop will not float, but I bet the area full of cans would weigh less than the same area full of water, because of the spaces between cans. I bet it would float while full of normal cooler stuff.

With any luck the people will actually get something for their money. As to whether it's worth it...

According to the linked website, the bottom uses a triple layer material with a puncture resistant mesh. And the site shows it floating while being towed by a kayak. The cooler is $59 during the fund raising campaign that's already about $18,000 over their $5,000 goal...

It depends who makes the PVC and how thick it is, China PVC is mostly junk but Zodiac and other high end makers of PVC are very strong and holds air for a very long time..

My Bombard C4 made by Zodiac with PVC material is very strong and holds air for months...

Inflatable cooler

I have a inflatable boat with a 50 hp motor that is made with Zodiac PVC and it will last years, so if its made with a good material it will last a long time.

I run my boat right onto the beach and it never gets a leak in the PVC material, 80 percent of rescue boats are inflatable and white water rafting is done with inflatables..

If the coolers are made with the good PVC material than it can do the job and may never leak air..
