- wciimExplorerYou can work as long as you want, leave then come back to work. It just depends on whether there are gate available. We have never had to wait on a gate. Maybe we have just been lucky or our timing is good. Anyway, go to the website guard1services.com there you can fill out an online application. You will also need to pay to take an online test for Texas security license. Word of warning-- the job is not for everyone. There are rattlesnakes, various wildlife, illegal aliens (very rarely), and dust to deal with. But you can make a good amount of money in a short amount of time compared to the amount of physical labor. Very easy job. Hope this helps.
- FFWIFE50ExplorerFill in Gate Guard.
We had some last minute plans fall through and are looking for a way to make a few bucks during Nov. No Amazon for us. We are wondering if any gate guards take a month or so off and need a fill in? Is this something folks do? - roachcoachExplorerWe got a few calls also but the Texan is right just go by the Gate Guard yards and you will see hundreds of generators just sitting there.
- rreeceExplorerThat's interesting. We got a call wanting to know if we were still working gates.
- The_TexanExplorerYep, there are some MAJOR changes in the industry. Rigs are stacked, jobs are scarce and the pay has been lowered by GGS. Also, many gates are now set up with guard shacks and you work a 12 hour shift, then go home to where ever you are living. Luckily, several companies still believe in their people and work to keep the good ones. Do not go back thinking you will get a gate in a couple weeks. Make darn sure you have something lined up, prior to heading to the patch.
- rreeceExplorerWe have been away from GG for several years. What is the going rate now? Any major changes in the last 3 yrs?
Thanks - The_TexanExplorerNo, mine are lungs and other internal organs, suspected to be related to asbestos exposure in the military and associated work. The wife is having serious skin cancer problems, which she never had before we started working in the field though.
- wciimExplorerTexan, I am curious. We are taking time off for health reasons, too. I was wondering if you are experiencing cancer tumors? On face? Eyes? This is what is happening to my better half.
