The new company manager, Jay, has told the area managers they are NOT to be involved in assisting us with time off or any personal matters, so don't expect any help from them. If you do need something, go to your sales gal, as they appear to have more authority than this Jay, who is anti helping the gate guards.
I suppose this means we're not going to have a sit down with Jay to air our grievances?? (-:
Jay and his sson spent two days setting us up because of mis-communication with the land owner. I have nothing but the highest regard for him. I thought he was really good in all respects. - Don_SharExplorer

We had Jay come here and he seemed very nice, was very interested in what could be done to make our stay better. Jay was very interested in what was going on and what he could do or get done for us. I was needing some desiel in my motorhome and Jay brought me out 50 gal when I could not get anyone else to deliver. I don't like to let the motorhome sit too long with 1/2 tank because of moister buildup. - mdbassExplorerThe new company manager, Jay, has told the area managers they are NOT to be involved in assisting us with time off or any personal matters, so don't expect any help from them. (-: - The_TexanExplorerOur neighbor down the road had a Dr appointment yesterday in CC and they had not been off a gate together since 10/7, so I went down in the morning and relieved them so they both could go to CC for the day. They said they had a good time together and his next checkup is mid Feb, which we will also cover, if we're still in close proximity. Yes, it is a tight knit group and we do help each other. - GGupExplorerHi All,
Well, we are covered and all has worked out for us. Wife is out of hospital and we have friends that are GGS people so will have some time off to get wife up and going.
Fracking had finished last Sat so was only 5 days long. Yesterday, I was on the gate and they were taking out the last of equipment. Only tanks left. Now to find out the date for the next Frac.
It is so nice to have "family" and this is a great Industry to build that feeling.
We still think that someone should make a list or at least tell our manager, be it Jamie, Roger or whomever, that when we are off a gate we would be willing to sub. Someone posted about own dishes and etc. I agree, IF the person wants to pull their unit on the site that would also work. Sometimes, like some of my friends, they are in an RV Park and would not want to pickup and have the expense of travel for just a few days or so. That should and would be an individual decision.
What can we call this: Society of Gate Guards which is SGG vs GGS!!!! - mdbassExplorer

I thought I'd take this time to chime in publicly. My wife and I are finally in Texas (Dallas) to see about getting a GG job. We're hoping to go down to GGS on monday (does anyone know if they're in the office on the holiday?) to see about registering with them and hoping there's available work in the next couple weeks (anyone know the answer to that too?)... anywho, thought I'd get backup ideas for places to contact if GGS isn't hiring if anyone has any input on that.
I think if there aren't many jobs going right now with GGS we might offer to be emergency stand-ins as has been suggested here if it could be lucrative enough to at least give us gas and food money while we wait for a normal gate :) Hope to be part of the club soon,
Maxx and Lara

Our neighbors from home showed up the 1st week of Dec on a Fri afternoon at 4:30 at Whitsett, with 4 couples ahead of them. Jamie had them get their prints on Sat, drive to Corpus on Monday to get the paper work done and they were setting on a gate Tues. They have at least 3 yards with FHU sites for the guards, Whitsett, Carrizo Springs and Karnes City. Going to Whitsett puts you in the center so you can go any direction. The Texan wrote:
Do not go to Corpus, go to the Whitsett yard at exit #83 off I-37.
Ahh, THAT is useful information, thankyou :) I had thought the FHU site was down in corpus, guess that's just the main office then? So I would guess that since Jaime(?) is at a para-office(?) in Whitsett with the FHU folks waiting in line, that location is probably open tomorrow (MLK day) at least even if the main office may not be? We'll probably set out in the morning and get down there with enough time to talk with them and get paperwork and licensing stuff going, how long would you guys say that stuff usually takes - should we get there earlier in the day? - maxx233Explorer

We would like to have someone for Jan. 30th or sooner till Feb 25th. It is an excellent gate and had planned to be gone this time anyway. Since my wife is recuping and we would need to run back and forth to SA to do checkups we could be gone longer.
Have had only one couple interested in 2 weeks but would like longer and you can use your own rig...we will just pull ours out of the way and you back in!!!
Pay for this amount of time would be just what the gate pays.
PM me or anyone interested. - The_TexanExplorerDo not go to Corpus, go to the Whitsett yard at exit #83 off I-37. There are FHU sites for the gate guards and they can get your paper work started, plus get your prints done before you drive down to corpus for the final paper work. That way Jamie will know you are there ready to work and in line for a position from the time you get there. Yes, they are still hiring and I doubt you will set in the yard more than a few days waiting for a gate.
