- rhiannaExplorerWe put in our notice to leave with Loma last Friday and they still haven't found anyone to replace us. Must be low on help.

Don't know about everyone else but I was at the GGS yrad last Thursday and his yard was absolutely empty. Roger said he needed help. - Mfar1234ExplorerHow we doing folks --- everybody busy and have a gate now? Openings?

I would call ahead and make sure a gate is available. Rumor has it that things might pick up after New Years. - Mfar1234ExplorerStill stacked up? Looking to head that way before x-mas....
- The_TexanExplorerAny couple or single that is in the Pearsall/Pleasanton Texas area, licensed and ready to start work right now, PM me. These are 10 hour pipeline gates suitable for singles as you are free to roam after the gate closes daily. Pay is only $25/day less than the major company offers for a couple, on a 24/7 gate.

People are still stacked and waiting at every yard and for every company. There have been a couple new pipeline gates this last week, but no new drilling gates, that I am aware of. why?, that has many answers from the companies, and all are plausible. However, the most common answer is the "new" EPA permit regulations are the major culprit, along with the end of the fiscal year.
So have they started slotting people or are you all still stacked up down there waiting for a gate??
What the news? Whats the reason?
This is not the year to be looking to get into the business. People returning that are already licensed and have experience, are given priority over any newbie without a license or experience. If one really wants to get into a GG job, then my suggestion is wait till next April and take one of the snowbird gates and work through the summer. That is when the companies will be looking for help and willing to take unlicensed, inexperienced folks. - Mfar1234ExplorerSo have they started slotting people or are you all still stacked up down there waiting for a gate??
What the news? Whats the reason? - bird731713Explorerbest thing to do is to keep checking, right now there are people stacked, waiting for gates
Gate Guard Chat - The_TexanExplorerRight now, things are extremely slow in the energy field, due to several reasons. Not many if any new gates opening and even some old gates being closed. That along with the influx of returning winter Texans is going to make for some long waits this fall. The lease we are on was supposed to be opening 3 new gates this winter, instead they just stacked the rig and went to a wait and see mode for at least 90 days. Not going to be a good winter to start out as a gate guard.
